 Lesson Design Work Sessions

During Lesson Design Work Sessions, teachers spend three hours concentrating on developing lessons for up-coming objectives.  Specialists and Academic Coaches assist with locating resources, learning tools and strategies and planning units to be used in the classroom.

 Paine Primary

Tina Fortenberry and her 1st grade class will soon begin using Skype to connect daily with a fellow student who is homebound to continue to learn virtually.  Skype is a free voice over IP that allows the user to make free phone and video calls over the Internet to another Skype user.  For more information about Skype visit http://www.skype.com.  To download Skype on the TCS network go to the Private Technology Page and scroll down to locate and begin downloading Skype.

 Paine Intemediate

Students in Kim Lewis' 5th grade class wrote and recorded animal and cell raps to share their knowledge.  They used digital recorders to tape their raps and then Mrs. Lewis uploaded and embedded the podcasts on their private website.  Visit their site to listen to the raps.

 Hewitt Trussville Middle School

Twenty-five select 6th grade students are about to recieve a video iPod to assist them in their education.  The iPods will help the students build background knowledge, repeat multiple step directions, decrease interferences from the classroom, increase reading fluency and more.

 Hewitt Trussville High School

Students at HTHS will be competing this month in an Iron Chef type competition created by culinary teacher Laura Rinsky which will take place in the new kitchen at Jeff State Community College Shelby Campus.  In order for students who will not be traveling to the competition to still participate, Mrs. Rinsky is developing the plan to use ustream.tv to broadcast live the event.  Using Ustream.tv not only enables the broadcast to be viewed by anyone but allows registered users to take part in live chat about the event.  Click here to learn more about ustream.tv.
