There are many excellent elective choices for sophomores. Quite a few of these electives are new and are tied to academies. Academy courses:
· Allow students to try out or focus on an area of study that relates to their field of interest or future career choice
· Will be engaging, relevant, hands on, project/product focused
· Will offer student opportunities to make connections and work with field professionals while still in high school.
· Can lead to nationally recognized industry certifications, opportunities for field related college scholarships, and postsecondary credits.
Three of the new academies offer a sequence of courses that will provide the most benefit if begun in the sophomore year.
