  • Important early dismissal information:

Beginning in August, all Trussville City Schools will dismiss early on Thursday instead of Monday.

Teachers and parents of elementary school children were surveyed to ask their opinion about aligning the elementary early dismissal with the secondary schools. Over 75% of the respondents to the survey thought all schools should dismiss early on the same day of the week.

  • Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Duke University TIP

Each year, Duke TIP identifies a group of academically talented students in the United States based on their exceptional grade-level standardized test scores. Only those who score at or above the 95th percentile qualify. Those students are invited to participate in the 7th Grade Talent Search and to take the ACT or SAT, which are designed for college-bound eleventh and twelfth graders. Taking an above-grade-level test is an experience that allows these gifted seventh graders to more accurately gauge their academic abilities and potential, as they need more advanced examinations than they find in their grade level. Participants in the 7th Grade Talent Search also receive a variety of support services and gain access to research and other information about using their academic abilities more effectively. The following students have been invited to join the Duke University Talent Identification Program’s prestigious 7th Grade Talent Search. Elizabeth Allison, Katherine Andreae, James Auvil, Michael Christopoulos, John Copus, Richard Davis, Savannah Day, Peter Dimler, Hadley Ekonen, Kaylee Rose Elrod, Alex Georgia, Elliott Greene, Ruth Gregory, Hannah Harbison, Alec Heslop, Joel Himes, Drennan Jones, Tyler Maronge, Elizabeth Morris, Ava Njoroge, Addison Olive, Sarah Partain, Shaylan Patel, Chaney Peters, Beck Petersen, Mia Sellers, Cody Serena, Abigail Wideman, Meredith Willingham, Ramsey Wilson.
