Bio

After I graduated from Opelika High School, I went to Auburn University to major in music performance. While living in Auburn, I got married to my husband, Don Smith, and we had the first two of our three children, Hannah and Jackson. I worked with the Opelika - Auburn Homeschool Association teaching literature while my oldest two were small. In 2007, my husband took a job in St. Clair County. We moved to Moody and soon after our third child, Connor was born.  While in Moody, I went back to school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.  I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2011. I taught 6th grade Social Studies and Technology at Moody Middle School for 7 years before coming to Cahaba Elementary School to work as the Technology Specialist.

I love to travel and enjoy going on adventures with my family. I love fantasy, sci-fi, supernatural, and dystopian books, movies, and television shows. I am a huge Auburn Football fan, a comic book geek, and a tech nerd.

My favorite thing about teaching is getting kids pumped up about learning.

“I love teaching them the things they need to know using the things they already love.”
