Mrs. Jacqueline (Jackie) Moore

Hello,

WELCOME TO FIFTH GRADE! My name is Mrs. Jackie Moore. I am beginning my 29th year of teaching.  My team partners are Mrs. Summers and Mrs. Hook.  Mrs. Summers teaches Math, Mrs. Hook teaches Science and Language, and I teach Reading and Social Studies.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mike, our two granddaughters, Ella Grace and Molly Kate, and our daughter and son-in-law, Laura Beth and Brett.  My husband of forty-one years is semi-retired and contracts part time as a field engineer at a local telephone engineering firm.  Our granddaughter, Ella Grace, is nine years old and loves to read and dance. Our youngest granddaughter, Molly Kate, is about to turn three and she loves to be read to and loves to sing and play! Our daughter, Laura Beth, is also a teacher.  She teaches secondary math in another school system.  Brett, our son-in-law, is a Chief Financial Officer at a company in Birmingham.  My family would not be complete without our adorable grand-pup, Lilly. Spending time with my family, trying out new recipes, traveling, gardening, fishing, reading, decorating, and collecting antiques are a few of my interests and hobbies.

This year, you will learn many skills and strategies to help you gain a deeper understanding of what you read and write.  You will also have the opportunity to read, think, write, and share as you participate in our Lucy Calkins Units of Reading.  You will also enjoy being an active participant as we travel throughout historical events during social studies. Along with learning and applying new skills and strategies, you will also develop and apply organizational skills to become responsible citizens in your daily life as a fifth grader.

Finally, I want to encourage each of you to give 100% of yourself and to be the best you can be this year.  My goal for all of students is to help all of you achieve your goals, become leaders for the future, and prepare you for sixth grade.  Get ready for a wonderful year!  I am looking forward to meeting all of you!

Our Meet the Teacher is August 6th from 7:30-8:30 in the morning. Please visit me in my classroom. My Classroom Number is 062.
