Mrs. Lynne Wainwright
After being a stay at home mom for several years, I began subbing and volunteering when my children started to school. I found that I absolutely loved being in the classroom. The Lord has given me a very special unconditional love for children and my heart is never as happy anywhere as it is in the classroom. So, I decided in 1994, at age 30, to pursue a teaching career. I received my undergraduate degree from Jacksonville State University in 1998. My first teaching position was in 6th grade which I absolutely loved, but I had a large number of struggling readers. In my effort to better understand why some students fail to become fluent readers, I took a position in first grade. It was heaven!!! I was blessed when I was offered a position in first grade in 2003 in Trussville. First grade is a magical year where the miracle of becoming a fluent reader takes place. It is absolutely possible for every student to become a fluent reader in first grade regardless of the level where they begin.
In 2006, I chose to pursue my graduate degree in literacy instruction because reading is my passion! That same year, I also earned my national board certification in literacy instruction. The culmination of those two pursuits has made me a better educator that strives to daily implement best practices in my classroom.
My first goal every year is to create a classroom climate where students know that they are family and they are loved; an enviroment where they feel safe taking risks and exploring the world of learning. My second goal is for students to LOVE books and look forward to picking the books they are interested in reading. My third focus is to support them at the level they start by providing individualized instruction based on each student's needs. There is no greater reward than watching these babies blossom each year!
My primary means of communication will be through a weekly newsletter that will be sent via email. I will also post reminders and important communication about the classroom activities on our classroom Facebook group page.
