3rd Grade

Literacy and Social Studies Teacher

Education:

B.S in Early Childhood Education, -1998 - Troy State University, Troy, AL

Experience:

Following my graduation from Troy University in 1998, I immediately began teaching at Green Gate School, a private institution in Montgomery, Alabama. I was there for ten years, and had the opportunity to teach at all levels, kindergarten through sixth grade. This diverse experience led me to find my niche in early childhood education. In 2008, I followed my dream of teaching in a public school, and for the next nine years I taught first grade at Coosada Elementary School in Elmore County, AL. In 2017, we moved to Trussville, and I had the opportunity to fill in for several teachers who were on leave, substitute teaching at all three elementary schools. This experience reinforced my desire to be a part of the Trussville City Schools on a permanent basis. I am excited to be teaching third grade at Cahaba Elementary!

Bio:

My Dad was a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force, serving as a chaplain. I was born in Hawaii, and have lived all over the United States, and even for a time in the Philippines. I started college in San Antonio, Texas, and then in 1994, made Alabama my home. My husband and I have one daughter, a third grader at Cahaba. Our family loves to travel in our RV at every opportunity, and between church, school, travelling, and extracurricular activities, our lives are full and exciting.

I have known from my earliest childhood that I would become a teacher and have never considered doing anything else. My foremost goal is to help each individual student become the best they can be, both academically and personally. I want to foster, in each child, a love of learning that they will carry with them throughout their lives. I believe that learning is best achieved in a classroom filled with kindness and respect for others and believe that all students have special abilities that can lead to success. I look forward to being your child’s teacher!
