HTHS Students Collect nearly 5,000 Cans for "Just One Can" Drive
Hewitt-Trussville High School's Student Council Association sponsored the “Just One Can” Canned Food Drive from November 1st through November 12th. Students at HTHS were asked to bring at least one canned food item to their first period class between those dates, which would provide at least 1,600 cans for donation to the T.E.A.M. food bank.
"Just One Can" is a food drive where first period classes compete to bring the most canned foods for the donation. The winning class is chosen by dividing the total number of cans donated byt the total number of students in the class. The class with the highest percentage wins a Chick-fil-A breakfast. This year's winner was Mrs. Greene's class, who donated 1,489 of the nearly 5,000 cans donated by entire student body.
On Thursday, November 18th, the SCA packed up the donations and loaded them into a trailer from the Trussville Fire Department. The local fire department assisted in delivering the donations to our local T.E.A.M. food bank.
