(PAINE) - Over the past three years, Paine Elementary has established a tradition of reading a "precept" or famous quote each morning during announcements. These quotes are words to live by. This year our school decided to have its 5th grade students, the leaders of the school, write their own precepts to be read over morning announcements the last half of the year. Paine counselors had a Precept Writing Party in December for each 5th grade class. Students followed the writing process to develop their precepts. The following are examples of some of the words to live by as written by Paine 5th grade students:
"Be yourself. You are perfect the way you are. Don't change for anyone." - Michelle, Mrs. Garrett's Homeroom
"Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference! When you wake up in the morning you get to choose your attitude. So, either make it good or bad, but either way it will make a big difference in your day." - Chloe, Mrs. Garretts' Homeroom
"Kindness is a brick wall and cannot be knocked down." - Maci, Mrs. Darnell's Homeroom
"The sun comes up to make the day bright. Being kind to others will make their day bright, too." Sarah, Mrs. Brasher's Homeroom
