I was fortunate to join the Paine Primary team (now Paine Elementary) in 2003, following twelve years of other education service. Before joining Trussville City Schools, I taught first, second, third, and fourth grade, as well as gifted resource classes at various schools in Alabama and Georgia. My experience before my current position at Paine includes ten years as a second-grade classroom teacher. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I spent three years providing professional development and coaching for teachers and students while serving as a math instructional coach. 

I am an Alabama native and received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Samford University in Birmingham. I earned two Master's Degrees (Elementary Education and Educational Leadership) and my Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration and Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership, all from Samford University.

I strive to meet the needs of students and assist in the professional growth of each member of Paine Elementary. My personal belief is that all students deserve high-quality leaders and teachers and a rigorous curriculum in an environment that promotes and engages critical thinking and learning skills.  I also strive to serve in an environment in which the capacity of every teacher is developed to meet students' academic needs and to have a part in developing a culture of purposeful collaboration and interdependence with a focus on student achievement. I firmly believe Paine Elementary is that place!

I am inspired by my colleagues and excited to work with such dedicated educators at this school. The commitment of the families and the excitement of the students create an amazing community where I love coming to work every day! 

During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jeff, and our two dogs (Barkley and Bowie). Our daughter, Ashley, and her husband live in the Birmingham area, and our son, Jon, and his wife live in Pensacola. FL. I love to hike local trails, read, and travel.
