• Academy Programs

Through the Academy programs at HTHS, students have the unique opportunity to explore and discover careers that match their strengths and fulfill their passions.

Programs include:  Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Electrical Construction, Computer Science, and Business Leadership Academies.  Our school also partners with Trussville Fire and Rescue to train interested students as emergency medical responders and fire fighters.   Each academy program consists of three or more classes usually taken in a sequential order to build background knowledge, skills, and expertise in the student's chosen career field.

We also offer interested students the opportunity to apply to attend the Academy of Craft Training which is a regional training center located near downtown Birmingham.  Juniors and Seniors can apply to learn one of the following trades: HVAC, Welding, Masonry, or Building Construction.

Our Work Based Learning Program offers students the opportunity to earn high school credit for paid work positions and non-paid internships.

Please click the links to the left to learn more about each academy or program.  You may also contact Academies Coordinator, Joy Young via email or phone (205-228-4000).
